Horizon Bank proudly came together for its third annual Horizon Cares Day on Tuesday, Sept. 16. For one day each year, all branches close to allow advisors the chance to dedicate their time to the neighborhoods they serve.
The Northeast Michigan Art Council has secured a grant to repair the historic building which houses their art center in Standish. Parts of the roof in the rear vestibules of the building are in need of maintenance.

Author Robert Downes will have something to celebrate as he offers a slide talk at the Northeast Michigan Arts Center in Standish at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 10 because he has just earned a book-of-the-year award from the Historical Society of Michigan for his nonfiction history, “Raw Deal: The Indians of the Midwest and the Theft of Native Lands.”
The Standish Lady Crushers 10U and 12U softball teams traveled to LaPorte, Indiana to compete in the National Softball Association’s Northern World Series July 15.
