The Northeast Michigan Art Council has secured a grant to repair the historic building which houses their art center in Standish. Parts of the roof in the rear vestibules of the building are in need of maintenance.
The tradition continues with the Fall Michigan Antique Festival bringing hundreds of antique dealers with their vintage treasures, antiques, and collectibles, along with Mid-Michigan’s largest classic car show to the Midland County Fairgrounds on Saturday, Sept. 27 - Sunday, Sept. 28. There will also be live acoustic music, food and camping to make a weekend full of fun for everyone.
Robert Downes, a Michigan native and award-winning author, gave a presentation, fielded questions, and signed copies of his new book, “Raw Deal: The Indians of the Midwest and the Theft of Native Lands,” at the Northeast Michigan Arts Center in Standish Sept. 10.

Author Robert Downes will have something to celebrate as he offers a slide talk at the Northeast Michigan Arts Center in Standish at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 10 because he has just earned a book-of-the-year award from the Historical Society of Michigan for his nonfiction history, “Raw Deal: The Indians of the Midwest and the Theft of Native Lands.”
