mhecht@cherryroad.com 989-387-9295 STANDISH — Nearly $100,000 in training funding was given to two organizations in Arenac County recently to support regional businesses. Michigan Works! Region 7B, which serves the counties of Arenac, Clare, Gladwin, Iosco, Ogemaw, and Roscommon, partnered with 11 companies throughout its six-county service area to obtain over $1 million in Going PRO Talent Funds for training, developing, and retaining both newly hired and existing employees.
It has been a little while since I penned one of these articles. The primary reason for that is that I have been limited by thoughts about what I could share with you. Life has resumed a more familiar rhythm, akin to the way it was before the events of the past few years.
The Consumers Energy Foundation is calling for entries in the annual Put Your Town on the Map pitch competition. The competition will provide $50,000 for big ideas in Michigan’s small towns. The competition provides funding for three projects that help small communities in Michigan grow and thrive. Communities with up to 10,000 residents can submit proposals through April 7.
989-387-9295 ARENAC COUNTY— During the Arenac County Board of Commissioners’ Meeting of the Whole Feb. 14, emergency manager Michael Bowers gave an update to the board that included the county’s mitigation plan, upcoming grant opportunities and an upcoming emergency response event.
Lifelong Standish resident Bernadette Miscisin will turn 100 years old on Monday, March 13. She is still active, living independently at the Brooke in West Branch.
