Annual fundraiser raises $9,921 for scholarships

An annual scholarship fundraiser has raised close to $10,000 for Arenac County high school graduates.

The 14th Annual Trivia Night, hosted by Arenac Community Funds, was held Saturday, Feb. 15 at Sunrise Community Resource Center in Standish.

The evening raised $9,921 for scholarships, and 15 teams participated, although two teams were not in attendance, due to the inclement weather.

The Court Jesters took first place that night. I Am Smarticus won second place, and The Bored Gamers took third place.

The annual event featured awards, snacks, and 20 games of trivia. Teams were comprised of up to eight members each.

The yearly fundraiser provides scholarships for Arenac County high school graduates attending a Michigan college or trade school. Post-high school applicants who desire to further their studies to boost their job prospects are now welcome.

The 2024 fundraiser raised over $11,000 for scholarships, and the 2023 event raised over $12,000. Since the scholarship fund’s creation in 2008, the ACF has granted over $170,000 in scholarships to more than 200 Arenac County students.
