Family Fun Day

An Au Gres Family Fun Day, hosted by Consumers Energy, will be held this Friday, June 21 at Riverside Park, 428 E. Huron Road in Au Gres, from 5-7 p.m.

The event will include an inflatable agility course, bucket truck rides, splash pad, games and food.

Fair grandstand

The Arenac County Fair has scheduled its Grandstand Events for the 2024 season. The fair, scheduled to run July 16-20, has a theme this year of “Fall into Fair”.

The grandstand events are as follows:

Tuesday, July 16 – Circus Show at 6:30 p.m.; Wednesday, July 17 – TNT Auto Barrel Racing/Figure 8 at 7 p.m.; Thursday, July 18, 4-H and FFA Livestock Sale at 5:45 p.m.; Friday, July 19, Thumb Tractor Pulling and Tractor Pulls at 5:30 p.m.; and Saturday, July 20, TNT Bump N’ Run at 6 p.m.

Baseball reunion

The 2024 Northeastern Michigan Baseball Reunion will be held Sunday, June 23, at the Pinconning Cheese House, at the junction of I-75 North and Pinconning Road.

Registration begins at 11 a.m. and the reunion will end by 3 p.m. The registration fee will cover a “baseball picnic” meal and tea or water. A cash bar will be available.

The NEM will induct Bill Cliff, David VanHorn and Tom Gracik from the Northern Division, and Pat Thompson, Tony LaRue and Jeff Hartt into the hall of fame. Gaylord ‘Gail’ Kohn and William ‘Bill’ Carstens, Sr., will be honored with posthumous induction into the NEM HOF. Robert “Bob” Pelton will also be honored.

A brief business meeting for the election of a new secretary and treasurer will also take place, as well as an update about upgrading the baseball museum.

After the reunion, the Arenac County Historical Society will open the NEM Museum in Omer for viewing.
