Annual tree sale
The Arenac Conservation District is in the midst of its annual tree sale. Supplies are limited. Visit arenacconservationdistrict.com to see what trees are available, or shop in person on pickup day.
Tree sale pickup is this Friday, April 18 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, April 19 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Arenac County Road Commission building at 4215 Airpark Dr. in Standish.

Buddy Poppy Princess
The Arenac VFW Post #3724 and Auxiliary members from VFW Post #3724 are seeking entries for this year’s Senior Buddy Poppy Princess. Contestants must be between 10 and 14 years old, and a direct descendant of a Post or Auxiliary Member. Call Sandy at 989 313-2109 for more information.
Diapers for those in need
Beacon of Light Church in Standish is hosting a monthly diaper giveaway to area residents in need. The events are held every Monday from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. at 201 S. Forest St. in Standish.
You do not need to a church member to receive help. Diaper donations can be made by calling 989-941-6637. For more information, or to set an appointment for diaper pickup, call 989-846-6592.
Summer hours and movie
The Mary Johnston Memorial Library, 114 N. Street in Standish, has updated hours for the summer. The library is open from 12 – 7.m. on Mondays and Tuesdays, 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
This Saturday, April 19, the library will show a family fun movie at 11:30 a.m. Visitors are allowed to bring a covered drink and free popcorn will be served.

The library is also currently offering grab-n-go Bee crafts to celebrate spring. Supplies are limited.
Spring cleanup at the Depot
Spring cleanup at the Depot will be held this Saturday, April 19, beginning at 10 a.m. at the Standish Historical Depot Welcome Center, 107 N. Main St. in Standish. Organizers are seeking volunteers to help. Participants are asked to bring rakes, gloves and any pruning equipment.
Last week for fish
The last week for VFW Post #3724’s Lent Fish Fries will be this Friday, April 18 from 4-6:30 p.m. at the Arenac County Veterans Club, M-76 in Standish. The last dinner for this year will be held April 18.
Dinners include fish, shrimp or chicken tenders, baked potato, coleslaw and bread. Dine in and take outs are available. Call 989-846-4091.
