Annual pubic auction set this Saturday in Standish

An annual auction that helps fund art and entertainment in Standish will be held this Saturday. The Northeast Michigan Arts Council’s 40th Annual Auction will be held Saturday, April 12, beginning at 10 a.m. sharp at the Northeast Art Center in Standish, 3233 Grove Street Road.

The event will be called by auctioneer Richard Martin, of Chesaning. The doors open at 9 a.m. for auction patrons to register and view merchandise prior to the 10 a.m. start time. There is no admission charge or fee to attend this event.

“The auction fundraiser is a financial lifeline for the Northeast Michigan Arts Council since it is the major source of income for arts programming,” the arts council said.

“The Auction Committee is optimistic the general public will recognize the importance of the arts and cultural programs the council provides for the community by attending and participating in this event. It is also a great way to support the art council’s mission of enriching the community through artistic experiences, as well as supporting working artists.”

The event will feature over 200 items, including antique and vintage furniture; antique and collectible glassware; collector dolls and memorabilia; fresh produce and baked goods; gift baskets; dessert-of-the-month for 12 months; bird items; decorative yard ornaments; new childrens’ toys and books; new and nearly new household items; rounds of golf; gift certificates for local restaurants; merchandise and services from area businesses; and more.
