Junque and Bake Sale

A Junque and Bake Sale, hosted by the Arenac County Historical Society, will be held this Friday and Saturday, April 4-5 at Ye Olde Courthouse in Omer, from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. each day. Friday and Saturday, April 4 & 5, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Diaper giveaway

Beacon of Light Church in Standish is hosting a monthly diaper giveaway to area residents in need. The events are held every Monday from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. at 201 S. Forest St. in Standish.

You do not need to a church member to receive help. Diaper donations can be made by calling 989-941-6637. For more information, or to set an appointment for diaper pickup, call 989-846-6592.

Kickoff to Summer Health

The Kickoff to Summer Health and Safety Day event has been set in Standish this year on Thursday, June 5 from 1 – 4 p.m.

The event is hosted by Paramount Rehabilitation Services, McLaren Standish Family Medicine, and the Central Michigan Health Department.

The event will include face painting, balloon animals, a bounce house, games, vendors and ore, and will be held at McLaren Bay Region – Standish Family Medicine, 4489 M-61 in Standish at Deep River Road and M-61.

VFW breakfast

The VFW Post 3724 and Auxiliary will host its next monthly Breakfast Buffet on Sunday, April 13 from 8:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. at the Arenac County Veterans Club, 3221 M-76 in Standish.

The breakfast includes scrambled eggs, hash browns, sausage, bacon, French Toast, pancakes, sausage biscuits and gravy, coffee, and juice. There are reduced prices for children over age 5; children under the age of 5 are free.

The public is welcome and encouraged to attend. Funds go towards the VFW Post and Auxiliary.

The Central Michigan District Health Department, 4489 W. M-61 in Standish, is offering the following immunizations for Arenac County residents:

Routine immunizations

​Walk-in clinics (no appointment necessary), Mondays from 9 – 11:30 a.m. and 1 – 4 p.m. Walk-ins welcome, although those with appointments will be prioritized.

Seasonal Flu (ages 6 months and up)

Flu walk-in clinics (no appointment necessary), Mondays from 9 – 11:30 a.m. and 1 – 4 p.m. and Wednesdays and Fridays from 1 – 4 p.m. Walk-ins welcome, although those with appointments will be prioritized.

COVID-19 (ages 6 months and up)

​Covid walk-in clinics (no appointment necessary), Mondays from 9 – 11:30 a.m. and 1 – 4 p.m., Wednesdays and Fridays from 1 – 4 p.m. There is limited stock of the COVID-19 vaccine.
