Breakfast buffet

The VFW Post 3724 and Auxiliary will host its next monthly all-you-can-eat Buffet Breakfast on Sunday, April 13 from 8:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. at the Arenac County Veterans Club, 3221 M-76 in Standish. The events are held the second Sunday of every month. and are open to the public.

The breakfast includes scrambled eggs, hash browns, sausage, bacon, oven baked French Toast, two types of pancakes, sausage biscuits and gravy, coffee, and juice. Cost is $12 for adults; $6 for children over age 5, and free for children under the age of 5.

The public is welcome and encouraged to attend. Funds go towards the VFW Post and Auxiliary.

Scholarship fundraiser

The Third Annual Euchre Night Scholarship Fundraiser is set for Thursday, March 20 at the Arenac County Veterans Club, Post 104, at 3221 M-76 in Standish.

The event serves as a fundraiser for a scholarship program, intended for Arenac County high school seniors. The Euchre Night will also collect non-perishable food items for cash donations for the Harvest For All program. Each food or cash donation enters you into a drawing for a prize.

Doors open at 5:15 p.m. with dinner at 5:45 p.m. and cards begin at 6:15 p.m.

Cost is $25 per person and includes a ticket for door prizes. The event will include chicken dinners from Buck’s Country Cooking and coffee and water are included. Cash bar will be available.

Weekly fish dinners

The VFW Post #3724 is in the midst of its weekly Lent Fish Fries, held every Friday until April 18, from 4-6:30 p.m. at the Arenac County Veterans Club, M-76 in Standish. Phone number: 989-846-4091.

The dinners include fish, shrimp or chicken tenders, baked potato, coleslaw and bread. Cost is $13. A fish/shrimp combo is $16. Dine in and take outs are available.

The Central Michigan District Health Department, CMDHD, is offering the following immunizations for Arenac County:

Routine immunizations

​Walk-in clinics (no appointment necessary) are being held on Mondays from 9 – 11:30 a.m. and 1 – 4 p.m. at the office at 4489 W. M-61 in Standish.

Clients may not be immunized in the order they arrive, as those with appointments will be prioritized.

Seasonal Flu (ages 6 months and up)

Flu walk-in clinics (no appointment necessary) are being held on Mondays from 9 – 11:30 a.m. and 1 – 4 p.m. and Wednesdays and Fridays from 1 – 4 p.m. at 4489 W. M-61 in Standish.

Clients may not be immunized in the order they arrive, as those with appointments will be prioritized.

Covid-19 (ages 6 months and up)

​COVID walk-in clinics (no appointment necessary) are being held on Mondays from 9 – 11:30 a.m. and 1 – 4 p.m. and Wednesdays and Fridays from 1 – 4 p.m. at 4489 W. M-61 in Standish.

CMDHD currently has limited stock of COVID-19 vaccine. Please call your local branch office to check availability and to schedule an appointment.

Mar. 18 – Prince of Peace-Linwood, 8 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Mar. 18 – Pinconning High School, 8 a.m. – 1 p.m.
