The Standish-Sterling Softball team’s season came to a close June 9 after losing in the Regional Final bout with Clare, 8-2.

The Au Gres-Sims Baseball team ended their season on Friday after losing to Alcona 17-1 in the district final game.In the district semifinal, the Wolverines exploded, offensively toppling Charlton Heston, 19-12, following a four-hit day by Tyler Zaherniak.“Tyler hit the ball hard and hit it consistently,” Au Gres-Sims assistant coach, Chad Zeien said.
An up-and-down regular season came to fruition Friday, as the Standish-Sterling softball team clinched their fifth straight district title with wins over Tawas and Pinconning.
For Standish-Sterling coach Ryan Raymond and his team, winning the state title is the only goal.
The Standish-Sterling Baseball team rode their pitching to two back-to-back doubleheader sweeps over Gladwin and Shepherd May 20-21.
