In 2007 when I began writing for local newspapers, there was talk about local newspapers dying. That conversation still exists today, especially in an era dominated by digital media, social networking, and instant access to information.
Judy Blume has been in the news a lot recently. I’m assuming it’s because the movie “Are you there God? It’s Me Margaret” hit the big screens this past weekend.
It was snowing as I was getting ready to go to work last Monday. When I got to work, my coworker Mary said, “I don’t know whether to wear boots or flip-flops.” It’s been that kind of spring.
There is something to complain about in every season. In the winter we gripe about the snow, in summer it’s hot but it’s too hot, in the spring we have the rain, and the fall, well that’s over in a blink of an eye, isn’t it?
My mother’s grandmother, my great-grandmother, emigrated from Ireland. My mother inherited her red hair, freckles and light Irish skin. I didn’t get the red hair, but definitely inherited the freckles and fair, easily sunburned skin.
