Activity in the 81st Judicial Court of Arenac County has resulted in the following:Jesse Lee Shepard, of Pinconning, for domestic violence: sentenced to 35 days in jail and $150 FC.Shakira Rose Webster, of Omer, for contempt of court – failure to appear: sentenced to six days in jail, six days credited and $375 FC.Brandon James Stodolak, of Standish, for operating a motor vehicle while visibly impaired: sentenced to two days in jail, one day credited, one day to be served and $1,547 FC.Chrystal Meredith Witkowski, of Standish, for disorderly person – jostling: sentenced to seven days in jail, seven days credited and $535 FC.Gerald Joseph Hopkins, of Au Gres, for illegal entry – without owners’ permission: sentenced to 35 days in jail, nine days credited, 26 days to be served and $685 FC.Paul Andrew Melzo, of Standish, for operating a motor vehicle while license suspended/revoked/denied and contempt of court – failure to appear: sentenced to 93 days in jail, 26 days credited, 67 days to be served, $867 FC and 12 months’ probation.Paul Andrew Melzo, of Standish, for attempted possession of controlled substances schedule 5 (LSD etc.) and contempt of court – failure to appear: sentenced to 110 days in jail, 26 days credited, 84 days to be served, $1,985 FC and 12 months’ probation.Eric Brandon Dodge, of Davison, for operating a motor vehicle while license suspended/revoked/denied: sentenced to two days in jail and $510 FC.Brittney Lafay Dominguez, of Saginaw, for contempt – failure to appear: sentenced to four days in jail, one day credited, three days to be served and $10 FC.Michael Dillon Colombo, of Oscoda, for contempt – failure to appear: sentenced to two days in jail, one day credited, one day to be served and $184 FC.Andrew Paul Thomas, of Standish, for contempt: sentenced to two days in jail, one day credited, one day to be served and $100 FC.Kyle Dewain Tremble, of Saginaw, for operating a motor vehicle while visibly impaired: sentenced to one day in jail, one day credited and $1,530 FC.Michael John Wilk, of Omer, for operating a motor vehicle while visibly impaired: sentenced to two days in jail, one day credited, one day to be served, $1,890 FC and 12 months’ probation.

The Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe of Michigan has awarded $889,315.69 to Arenac County municipalities and its two school districts, through the tribe’s two percent grant distributions for Fall, 2023.

Winter arrives with fanfare as the holidays and New Year’s Eve all take place within days of the first day of the season.

Standish-Sterling is joining 537 local and 56 intermediate school districts across Michigan to celebrate January as School Board Recognition Month.“In another year full of challenges for public education, our school board members persevered through the adversity of 2023 to provide the best possible education for our students,” said Superintendent Darren Kroczaleski.
