The City of Au Gres unveiled the first of several planned independent, senior living townhouses at 300 East Michigan Avenue at an open house event Sept. 6. One quadplex building was open to the public and applications were taken from qualified parties. Each quadplex unit is comprised of four townhouses, each townhouse with its own garage.
Consumers Energy is alerting Michiganders to be on the lookout of scammers who last week were contacting people and demanding immediate payment with a bogus threat that their service will be shut off.
The board of education for the Whittemore-Prescott Area School District appointed elementary school principal Bryan Crainer as a long term, interim superintendent at their regular meeting Sept. 8.

Author Robert Downes will have something to celebrate as he offers a slide talk at the Northeast Michigan Arts Center in Standish at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 10 because he has just earned a book-of-the-year award from the Historical Society of Michigan for his nonfiction history, “Raw Deal: The Indians of the Midwest and the Theft of Native Lands.”
The National Agriculture Statistics Service has released the annual Farm Production Expenditures report, which NASS’s Lance Honig says tries to cover everything that the name implies.
