Au Gres and Standish host veterans’ program

AU GRES—The City of Au Gres and the City of Standish will continue their Veterans’ Banner programs this year.The program honors local veterans by displaying their military service on banners placed along decorative street pole lights downtown.In Au Gres, the city will coordinate and display Veteran’s Banners along US-23 between Memorial Day and the Fourth of July.

Wolverines Baseball falls in district final

The Au Gres-Sims Baseball team ended their season on Friday after losing to Alcona 17-1 in the district final game.In the district semifinal, the Wolverines exploded, offensively toppling Charlton Heston, 19-12, following a four-hit day by Tyler Zaherniak.“Tyler hit the ball hard and hit it consistently,” Au Gres-Sims assistant coach, Chad Zeien said.

An up-and-down regular season came to fruition Friday, as the Standish-Sterling softball team clinched their fifth straight district title with wins over Tawas and Pinconning.

Academic Achievement

Blake Mitchell of Twining has been named to Southern New Hampshire University’s Winter 2024 Dean’s List.Full-time undergraduate students who have earned a minimum grade-point average of 3.500 to 3.699 for the reporting term are named to the Dean’s List.
