Area youth put their skills to the test during the annual Knights of Columbus Free Throw Contest, hosted by the Au Gres Knights of Columbus Council #7717. The local competition took place Jan. 18 at Au Gres-Sims High School, where boys and girls ages 9-14 competed in the first round.

The VFW Post 3724 and Auxiliary will host its next monthly all-you-can-eat Buffet Breakfast on Sunday, Feb. 9 from 8:30 a.m. - 12 p.m. at the Arenac County Veterans Club, 3221 M-76 in Standish. The monthly events are open to the public and are held the second Sunday of every month.
