Veterans and coffee

Arenac County Veterans Affairs met with fellow veterans and committee members for coffee and donuts on Tuesday, March 5 at the Arenac County Veterans Club, 3221 M-76 in Standish.The event is held on the first Tuesday of each month and provides veterans with important information and an opportunity to share stories and fellowship with other veterans, as well as meet with other veterans to discuss benefits.

Loyalty Day Parade slated April 27

The VFW and post #3724 will host its 51st Loyalty Day Parade on Saturday, April 27 in Standish and is inviting the community to participate.“We would like to take this time to personally invite you to participate in what we believe is the most important celebration our community has, the reaffirmation of loyalty to the United States, and for the recognition of the heritage of American freedom,” organizers said.“We hope each and every one of our community members will take the opportunity to participate in this event and join us as we celebrate our heros that allow us to be free.”Parade assembly will be held 11 a.m.

State awards $3.6 million for invasive species projects

Michigan announced that 31 projects will receive $3.6 million in grants from the Michigan Invasive Species Grant Program.The Arenac Conservation District received $70,000 for the Saginaw Bay Cooperative Invasive Species Management Area project.
