US-23 resurfacing in Au Gres started

AU GRES — Resurfacing on US-23 in Au Gres began at the start of this week on Monday, April 17. The Michigan Department of Transportation, MDOT, announced a $6.5 million investment to resurface more than eight miles of US-23 between South Point Lookout Road and Dyer Road near the county line.

Auxiliary accepting poppy princess nominations

ARENAC COUNTY — During last month’s meeting of the Arenac VFW Post #3724 and Auxiliary, members discussed the upcoming Loyalty Day Parade in Standish. The auxiliary will be naming a Buddy Poppy Senior Princess and a Buddy Poppy Junior Princess for the 50th Loyalty Day Parade, slated for Saturday, April 29.

Auction set April 15 at Standish Art Center

STANDISH — Catch the auction fever when the Northeast Michigan Arts Council opens the doors for its 38th annual auction Saturday, April 15 at the Northeast Art Center in Standish (corner of Grove Street Rd. and US-23). Auctioneer Richard Martin, of Chesaning, will call the event, which begins at 10 a.m. sharp.

District Event was held at Standish-Sterling Jr./Sr. High School March 16–18. Charged Up, Presented by Haas Game Animation, is the name of the competition game for FIRST, For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology, for 2023.

The off-road, electronic chairs can easily handle trails, snow, sand and even up to 8 inches of water.
