Next month’s ballots will include a county-wide millage proposal for both the City of Omer and Turner Township.
Residents of the City of Omer will vote on a mosquito proposal at the general election on Tuesday, Nov. 5. Turner Township residents will see a road improvement millage on their ballots.
Ballot language for each is as follows:
Mosquito Control
Shall the tax limitation under Article IX, Sec. 6 of the Michigan Constitution on General Ad Valorem Taxes within the City of Omer, County of Arenac, and State of Michigan be assessed on all real property within the City of Omer for the period of two years (2025-2026 inclusive.)
This assessment will allow the City of Omer to levy a $50.00 (Fifty Dollars) property tax assessment, for the purpose of providing mosquito control. If levied, this special assessment would raise approximately Fourteen Thousand, One Hundred Fifty dollars( $14,150.00) in the first year.
Turner Township Road Improvement Millage
Shall the tax limitation imposed under Article IX, Sec 6 of the Michigan Constitution of General Ad Valorem Taxes, within Turner Township, Arenac County, Michigan, be renewed at up to 1 mill ($1.00 per $1,000.00 of taxable value) for a period of four years (2025 to 2028) inclusively for the purpose of repair and maintenance of township roads; including but not limited to: new gravel, ditching, bridge repair, roadside brushing and mowing, road sign replacements, street light costs? If levied, this millage would raise approximately $28,000.
