Victor William Pendred, 90, peacefully in his sleep, entered into eternity on Sunday, Nov. 10, 2019, at Brian’s House Hospice facility in Essexville, Michigan.

He resided in Standish, Michigan for all his adult life.

Victor was born at Sims Ranch in AuGres, Michigan to Walter George and Zella Mae (Whitman) Pendred on August 17, 1929.

He was raised in AuGres along with eleven other siblings, Eileen (Ferd) Heinrich; Ross Pendred; Walter (Ruth) Pendred; Elsie (Clinton) Maser; Phyllis (Neil) McGuire; Pauline (Chuck) Duby; Richard (Noreen) Pendred; Alice (Clinton) Freehling; Zella Jean (Roger) Freehling; Carol (Jack) Gotham; Sue (Jack) Gotham. We are blessed to have Eileen, Elsie, Phyllis, Pauline, Noreen, Alice and Zella Jean whom are still with us today.

Victor attended and graduated from the one room school house on Delano Road through grade 12. He worked as a carpenter from 1948 to 1950 then joined the Army during the Korean War serving from December 1950 to December 1952 Battalion B. Vic served as a personal truck driver for the Colonel transporting him throughout Germany. After his tour in Germany, Victor worked in the Whipple’s studio for a few years earning his photographer status.

He met and married his first wife Barbara Whipple and together they had four children. He also worked the ship yards for Defoe shipbuilding. As his family began to form, Vic took a job with Magaline as a tool man where he retired after 30 years of service. Victor shared his knowledge with future generations for wedding and portrait photography. In addition to photography, he loved sports. Victor coached little league for many young boys and made wooden toys for his grandchildren. He joined the Masons and took part in Job’s Daughters International to be a part of his daughter’s experiences. Victor loved growing beautiful flowers and delivered them to his rehab family at Ascension Hospital Cardiac Rehab Unit in Standish each week. He enjoyed playing cards with anyone who was willing. Victor was a good person, he was truthful, kind, patient, loving and a hard worker.

Victor married his love, Mary Cloe (Fox-Kurtz) Pendred in 1981 and they had a wonderful life together for 38 years.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Cloe; children, Paul (Lynette) Pendred; Bobbi (Wally) Horn; Maureen (Gary) Wylie; Laura (Travis) Kottwitz; Pete (Gwen) Kurtz; Leslie (Ed) McShane; Jill Polese; Nancy (Brian) Marsh. Over the years, their combined families had 15 grandchildren; Troy (Elisha) Irving, Victoria (Justin) Zablocki, Devin Pendred, Chase Pendred, Christopher (Armine) Horn, Leslie (Denicio) Amodeo, Jason (Jessica) Horn, Darcee (Justin) White, Alisha Kottwitz and Matthew Kottwitz, Bianca Kurtz, Larry McShane, Dominic, Joseph, Isabella Polese; and 8 great-grandchildren; Caleb and Ian Irving, Anyia and Ashyton Zablocki, Concetta, Antonina and Domenica Amodeo and Emily White; 6 sisters; Eileen Heinrich, Elsie Maser, Phyllis McGuire, Pauline Duby, Alice Freehling, Zella Jean Freehling and sister-in-law, Noreen Pendred; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Victor was predeceased by his parents, Walter George & Zella Mae (Whitman) Pendred. He was also predeceased by 3 sisters/in laws and 11 brothers/in laws

A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 18, 2020 with visitation at 10:00 a.m. and services begin at 11:00 a.m. at Buresh Funeral Home 101 E. Michigan Avenue, AuGres, Michigan. Victor’s final resting place will be at Sims Cemetery in AuGres. A lunch will be provided by Divine Shepherd Christian Community Church in Standish following services. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Ascension Hospital Cardiac Rehab Unit in Standish; Brian’s House in Essexville; and Divine Shepherd Christian Community Church of Standish. Envelopes provided at the services.
