Standish-Sterling swim team competes at State Finals


STANDISH— The Standish-Sterling Central girls’ swim team swam at the State Finals this past Friday and Saturday at Oakland University. Savanna Kurchak, Sierra Maison, Emily Ratajczak, and Mady Ahleman swam the 200 Medley Relay taking twenty-first.

The 400 Freestyle Relay with swimmers, Sierra Maison, Emily Ratajczak, Sareena Kurchak, and Mady Ahleman, set a new school record and placed 20th.

Individually, Emily Ratajczak took thirteenth in the 100 Breaststroke in the B finals, and Sierra Maison took 14th in the 100 Breaststroke in the B finals. Mady Ahleman placed 17th in the 100 backstroke.

Ending the weekend on a high note, Sierra Maison took fourth, becoming the first Panther swimmer to earn All-State status in the A Finals with a personal best time, and school record in the 200 Individual Medley.
