Santa to stop in Standish

Posted

STANDISH— Santa is coming to Standish again, this time on a train. The Lake State Railway will escort Santa to the Depot Center at 8 a.m. on Dec. 7. He won’t be riding alone, as he’ll be joined by various cartoon and Disney characters as well.

Last year was the first time Santa visited Standish by railway, and he attracted a crowd of about 1,000 people. The Depot expects no less of an attraction this year.

“We were absolutely amazed by how many people we had. They love it. The kids love it, the parents love it, the grandparents love it. It’s absolutely amazing,” said volunteer, Brenda Matt.

Donuts and cider will be available to everyone at the event again this year. Santa will be distributing goodie bags to the children before he leaves.

Standish is Santa’s first stop on his train tour, but not his only stop, so the line will be cut off at 9:30 a.m. Everyone should be sure to be in line before then, said Matt.

The Depot will also be accepting donations for Christmas for Kids. There is a gift box at the Depot to drop off the presents or cash gifts too.
