Road work planned for 2020.

ARENAC COUNTY— Road construction for Summer of 2020 is being planned to fix Worth Rd., which was part of the Tribal 2% grant, and part of Pine River Rd., which is being partly funded by a safety grant.

According to Arenac County road commission board member, Ken Stawowy, a bid for Worth Rd. will probably go out in March and will hopefully be completed by September. The focus of the construction will be beyond Sturman Rd., east of the casino, where there is 3/10 of a mile that is gravel and has never been improved.

Stawowy said the road will be kept open as much as possible during construction and he hopes that at least one lane will be open all the time.

As well as Worth Rd., part of Pine River Rd. will also have construction in the new year. 1000 ft. east of the railroad tracks on Pine River Rd. to the west approach of the bridge over Pine River will be fixed. The safety grant was applied due to the dangerous curves on that stretch of road.

The engineering is nearing completion and a bid will be submitted to a contractor in May or June.
