Mary Johanna Lalonde Woolhiser

Devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, Mary Johanna Lalonde Woolhiser, 89, passed away peacefully after a short illness at home with her loving family at her side.

She was born January 5, 1930 to the late Eugene LaLonde and Florence Clarkson Lalonde in Pinconning, Michigan. Mary married Harold L Woolhiser at St Michael’s Catholic Church in Pinconning on June 5, 1948. They celebrated their 70th Wedding Anniversary June 5, 2018. Harold and Mary moved to Dearborn Heights, Michigan to raise their children until 1968 when they returned to Arenac County. Mary worked alongside her husband at the business on M-13 south of Standish until they retired in 1995. Hard work was normal place for Mary. In her free time she enjoyed and loved sewing; quilting, which she made quilts for every grandchild; cooking; playing cards with Harold and their lifelong friends; and cherished the time spent with all family. Mary was a devoted Catholic and enjoyed spending Christmas Eve every year with her family.

Mary is survived by her loving five children: Carol (Ed) Sharoian Ft. Meyers, FL; Darlene (Bernie) Barber Bentley, MI; Marlene (Dale) Cousineau Bentley, MI, Diane (Jack) Temple, Pinconning, MI and Harold G (Paulette) Pinconning, MI. She is also survived by one sister, Annie Metcalf. Mary is survived by 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death was her husband, Harold, May 16, 2019; sons, Harold E. Woolhiser and Michael Paul Woolhiser; daughter, Mary Ann; three sisters, Adelaide Labean, Sister Ceilia LaLonde, Esther Laverty; two brothers, Wilbert Lalonde and Leonard Lalonde; sister-in-law, Nancy Woolhiser Engel; four brothers-in-law, Delbert Laverty, Harold LaBean, Frank Metcalf and Howard Engel; mother-in-law, Lola Cunningham Woolhiser; father-in-law, George Woolhiser and two sons-in-law, Harry Deck and Kenneth Showalter.

Funeral Mass was Monday, December 23, 2019 at 11 am at Resurrection of the Lord Catholic Church, Standish, Michigan with Rev. Fr. David Parsch officiating. Interment followed in Woodmere Cemetery, Standish, Michigan. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Lee-Ramsay Funeral Home-STANDISH CHAPEL, Standish, Michigan.
