Mary C. Palmer

Died June 5, 2019

Mary Carol Palmer, 90, of Eaton Rapids, formerly of Standish, passed away June 5, 2019, after a short illness.

Mary was born Dec. 25, 1928, in Bay City to Eva (Richards) and Lester Florance. Mary cherished family, and her love for them will always be remembered. For 26 years, Mary’s husband, Burton Palmer, was a Standard Oil distributor in the Standish area. During that time, Mary managed the business out of their home. After years of hard work, Mary and Burton spent many enjoyable years in Bonita Springs, Fla.

Mary loved to read, finishing 100 books each year. Before her stroke in 2008, she weekly dedicated hour after hour, researching her family’s genealogy as well as her husband’s. Her card-playing skills were highly respected, and everyone wished to be her partner.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Cathy (Michael) Carr of Eaton Rapids; three granddaughters, Christy Avery (Justin Woodard), Jennifer (Spence) Anderson and Teresa (John) McCook; and five great-granddaughters, Heidi and Holly Anderson, Bryn and Logan Woodard and Stella McCook. She is also survived by her brother, Dick (Jan) Florance; and sister, Margaret (Jim) Warden.

Besides her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Burton, in 2013; and her infant sister, Patricia.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, June 8, 2019, at 11 a.m. at the Lee-Ramsay Funeral Home Standish Chapel, with Pastor Randy Brokaw officiating. The family will greet family and friends from 10 a.m. Saturday until time of service at 11 a.m.

Memorial donations may be sent to the Standish Historical Depot and Welcome Center, P.O. Box 456, Standish, MI 48658. Online condolences may be sent to www.leeramsayrivertownfh.com.

The family would sincerely like to thank the Island City Assisted Living staff for their loving care of Mary for the past 7 1/2 years.
