Marilyn Joyce (Kisse) Filipek

Died Dec. 25, 2019

On Christmas morning, our mother, Marilyn received her greatest Christmas gift when she joined her beloved Henry in Heaven. She passed peacefully surrounded by family, and so, the love story that began in 1953, continues on in eternity.

Marilyn made an indelible mark on this life as a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, Godmother, daughter, Auntie and friend.

Marilyn was born in Northville, MI, the only child of Elva Mae Cantley and Thomas Joseph Kisse. When she married Henry in 1953, she wanted a family where their children had each other as siblings and friends. Her unique gift to every child in our immediate and vastly extended family was her "seeing" each person as unique, and sharing something special with each individual person. We celebrate those cherished memories, and her example! As a talented cook, Marilyn prepared countless memorable meals filled with love, and took pride in gathering people together. (Thanksgiving 2019 brought much laughter as she remembered cooking over 100 birds in her lifetime!) She was a room-mother, a school field trip mom, a CCD teacher, a Scout Leader, and wore many other volunteer hats. She enjoyed dancing, quilting and all types of hand-crafted gifts. She was an accomplished seamstress - a gift she passed on to many others throughout her life.

Marilyn is survived by her five daughters; Katherine (Robert) Couture, Carol (Randal) Desrochers, Mary (Thomas) Thomas, Barbara (Thomas) O'Rear, and Susan (David) Hrit; 15 grandchildren; three God-children; three great-grandsons and one on the way; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends from the Filipek-Cantley-Kudla families.
