Knights of Columbus to hold annual free throw contest.


ARENAC COUNTY— The Knights of Columbus group will be holding its annual free throw shooting contest. The Au Gres council will hold the local level championship in the Au Gres-Sims gymnasium Jan. 18 at 1 p.m. Participants should show up early to get signed in.

There will be another contest held by the Standish Knights of Columbus Jan. 19 at 2 p.m. at the Standish-Sterling Central elementary gymnasium. Children ages 9-14 are encouraged to join the competition. Registration begins at 1 p.m. 

According to Au Gres Knights of Columbus member Dennis Stanley, each contestant is allowed 15 shots at the local level and if they advance to districts, they will be allowed 25 shots through to state. 

Registration forms are available in the Au Gres-Sims and Standish-Sterling Elementary school offices.
