Katherine “Kathy” (Riopelle) Stodolak, 67, passed away surrounded by family and friends June 13, 2019, after a courageous battle with multiple myeloma.

She was born Jan. 14, 1952, at Ardmore Hospital in Ferndale, to the late Chelsea and Shirley (Mellor) Riopelle. She was formerly married to Dennis Stodolak Sr. Kathy was a devoted mother, grandmother and friend who enjoyed camping, helping others, going to rummage sales, making wonderful art out of anything she could find and being with family and friends.

She is survived by her sons, Dennis Stodolak Jr., Steven (Courtney) Stodolak and Christopher Stodolak.

She was predeceased by her son, Jeffery Stodolak, on Aug. 12, 1973; her mother, Shirley; and her father, Chelsea.

Per Kathy’s wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be a celebration of Kathy’s life at Steven and Courtney’s house at 2196 Pine River Rd. (behind the golf course) on Saturday, June 23, from noon to 6 p.m.

Kathy’s family would like to thank special friends Vicky Weber Chmura and Paulette Woolhiser for their unyielding, unconditional friendship as well as the many friends who stopped by to say goodbye to an Angel. Also, we would like to extend a thank you to Ascension St Mary’s of Saginaw and Sterling MediLodge for their care, and Standish Skilled Nursing and Compassus Hospice for their exceptional dedication and service to keeping Kathy comfortable and attending to her every need.
