James Randolph Kelley, 75, passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2018, at his residence in Alger.

Jim was born May 15, 1942, in Saltville, Va., to the late Cornelius and Wilma (Hogston) Kelley. He married Elaine J. Follis in Clarkston on May 25, 1974. Jim was a very social person and as the family said, “he never met a stranger.” He loved to tell jokes and make people laugh. Jim was a great supporter to all his family and friends; he truly had a huge, big heart. He was always busy working on projects, not just little ones but huge ones. Jim owned and operated James Kelley Doorman, Inc. and was known by many as “The Doorman.” He also had a love for old muscle cars and Harley-Davidsons. His biggest joy was being in the wind riding his Harley.

Jim is survived by his wife, Elaine; and his six children, Wendy Nikolitch, Randolph Kelley, David (Valerie) Follis, Alan (Elvie) Follis, Pamela (David) McIntyre and Penny (William) Green. He is also survived by three sisters and two brothers, Leota Smith, Ann Freeman, Raymond Kelley, William Kelley and Trixie Roeher; 13 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by one daughter, Cindy Dennison; and four siblings, Robert Kelley, Jean Wilson, Joseph Kelley and Frank Kelley.

According to Jim’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service celebrating James Kelley’s life will be held Saturday, May 12, at noon at the Ortonville Cemetery Chapel, 175 Ortonville Rd. (M-15) in Ortonville, MI 48462. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Lee-Ramsay Funeral Home Standish Chapel.
