James (Jim) Leo Raymond, 72, of Sterling, passed away May 4, 2020 at home with his wife, Karlia by his side. He was born July 15, 1947 in Wyandotte, MI to Clifford (Cliff) and Barbara Raymond. He and Karlia (Kroczaleski) were married May 27, 1989. He never tired of telling her of his love for her and his pride in her. Jim was a loving husband and always encouraged Karlia in all of her various endeavors and supported her through all of life’s ups and downs. Jim loved being outside, camping, his garden and all of God’s creatures. He and Karlia referred to their property as a “no kill zone”. He loved to watch the deer in the backyard and the birds at all of his feeders, feed the fish in the pond, and sit on the front deck and feed peanuts to the birds, squirrels, and chipmunks. He was a kind and gentle man who loved traveling around the country on vacations with Karlia. Going to social events wasn’t always at the top of his list of things to do, but he enjoyed many kinds of music and loved to dance. At gatherings he could often be heard asking the band/DJ to “Play a good one”!

Jim was a Vietnam veteran and was proud to have answered the call to serve his country. After his service to his country, he became a machinist and took great pride in his work operating a manual lathe to create parts holding tolerances to within 1000’s of an inch. He retired from Mistequay Group (formerly Saginaw Tool and Die and Precision Machining) after more than 20 years.

Jim is survived by his wife, Karlia Kroczaleski-Raymond; his children, Marsha Raymond, Michelle (Dennis) Brougham and Michael (Elizabeth) Raymond and his grandchildren, Kelsey (Eric) Brown, Kevin Morse, Sydney Brougham, Savanna Brougham, and Maxwell Raymond. Jim is also survived by his mother, mother-in-law, Maud Kroczaleski; his brother, Charles (Sandra) Raymond; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Kim and Kim Ann Kroczaleski, Charles and Kathleen McBride, Kevin Kroczaleski and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He will be greatly missed by his dogs, Bunny and Bucky who always brought him great joy and Stanley, the cockatiel.

He was preceded in death by his father, Clifford Raymond; sister, Kathleen Cybulla; brother-in-law, Anthony Cybulla; brothers, David Raymond and Donald Raymond; grandson, Austin Brougham and father-in-law, Bernard Kroczaleski.

There will be no service at this time and per his wishes, cremation has taken place. Arrangements are being handled by Lee-Ramsey Funeral Home, Standish. A memorial will be held at a later date.
