Dorothy M. Klimek

Died June 4, 2019


Dorothy M. Klimek, 91, of Sterling went home to the Lord June 4, 2019.

She was born June 27, 1927, to Michael and Gladys (LaForest) Kopke. Her parents named her Dorothy for its meaning “Gift of God.” She married Walter Klimek on May 10, 1948. Dorothy was a kind and gentle woman, blessed with a gift for numbers and having rapport with people. She lovingly cared for her family, while also being a farm wife. For many years Dorothy worked at the State Bank of Standish and was a mentor to many. She retired as vice president of the bank and was celebrated with a retirement open house, which the bank named “Dorothy Day.” She served her parish, Resurrection of the Lord Catholic Church, as a bookkeeper, money counter and singer in the choir for funerals. Dorothy loved praying the rosary and was a devout Catholic. She always had her hands busy from being a seamstress, to crocheting and knitting. Dorothy loved playing bingo, card games and doing jigsaw puzzles. Above all, she was full of compassion and love. Dorothy cared for and helped many individuals.

Dorothy’s greatest love was her family. She is survived by three children, Marianne (Robert) Flick, John (Yvonne) Klimek and Suzanne (Dave Meyer) Trudell; grandchildren, Bill Flick, Lynn Douglas, Becky (Steve) Cook, Tracy (Brent) Pinter, Michael (Jennifer Multerer) Klimek, Melissa (Trevor) Sprague and Rob (Dana) Trudell; great-grandchildren, Logan (Shelby) Douglas, Ethan Douglas, Reagan Carney, Nicholas Pinter, Connor Pinter, Nolan Pinter, Brynn Klimek, Elyse Klimek and Madelyn Sprague; one sister-in-law, Joan Kopke; and many nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Walter Klimek; their Baby Klimek; her parents; her two dearly beloved brothers, Bob and Bill Kopke; and beloved son-in-law, Robert (Bird) Trudell.

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 7, 2019, at 10 a.m. at Resurrection of the Lord Catholic Church, Standish, with the Rev. Father David Parsch officiating and interment in Sterling Cemetery, Sterling. The family will greet family and friends from 3-8 p.m. Thursday, June 6, at the Lee-Ramsay Funeral Home Standish Chapel. A prayer service will be held 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Dorothy will lie in state at Resurrection of the Lord Catholic Church 10 a.m. Friday till time of Mass at 11 a.m.
