Au Gres to hold annual Christmas in the Park

AU GRES— On Dec. 7, the Au Gres community will have a parade to the park where there will be a tree lighting, Christmas caroling, and a visit from Santa. The annual event introduced by Au Gres mayor Bill Borushko, is done for the spirit of the season, and for the entire community to enjoy, said coordinator, Terri Sanford-Jones.

The parade will begin at Au Gres-Sims school parking lot at 6:15 p.m. Coordinator Sheree Wiltse asks that all parade entrants be there by 5:45 p.m. The parade will make its way to the City of Au Gres Campground on Park St. for the tree lighting and caroling.

Wiltse said children will also be able to visit Santa and receive a gift donated by the Au Gres Men’s Club.

According to Sanford-Jones, there are 75 trees, generously sponsored by Richardson Chevrolet Buick, that will be decorated by those businesses, organizations, families, or individuals that signed up, from Thanksgiving until Dec. 6. All 75 trees have been signed up for, and are no longer available.

All of the trees will be lit on Dec. 7, throughout the holiday season until Jan. 1 for the public to enjoy.

Viewing is free to the public. Anyone can walk through, or drive through, to see the lights. “It is beautiful,” Sandford-Jones said, “If you haven’t seen it before, it is so worth it.”
