Au Gres man charged with child sexually abusive activity

STANDISH — Christopher Paul Botimer, 56, of Au Gres was arraigned in 81st District Court July 18 on two counts of child sexually abusive activity and one count of using a computer to commit a crime.

According to a Michigan State Police press release, Botimer was arrested following an investigation in which evidence was seized from his home, and following forensic examination the MSP learned Botimer was reportedly uploading child sexually abusive materials to the internet.

According to court documents, the charges include the acts of arranging for, producing, making, copying, reproducing or financing child sexually abusive material involving a prepubescent child, and he reportedly used a computer to commit the alleged crime.

If convicted on all three charges and sentenced concurrently, Botimer could face 25 years in prison.

Botimer is being held in the Arenac County Jail on a $75,000 cash or 10 percent surety bond.

The investigation was conducted by the MSP Computer Crimes Unit Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
