Au Gres Halloween in the Park sees record attendance

AU GRES — Attendance was up at the fifth annual Halloween in the Park, held at the Au Gres City Park on Saturday, Oct. 19. The event featured a variety of activities, including a “haunted trail” hayride, bounce house, obstacle course, petting zoo, juggler performance, a rock wall sponsored by the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe and trunk-or-treating at the end of the night. “We had a lot of great entertainment lined up and we had a wonderful turnout,” event organizer Cale Wiltse said. Wiltse said the event saw around 850 kids. He said the weather played a big role in that, as last year’s attendance was driven down by snow and rain, but overall attendance was higher than it has been in previous years. Wiltse said the trunk-or-treating at the end of the night was the highlight of the event, but every activity seemed to go over well. “Everything seemed like it was at capacity,” Wiltse said. “From the start to the end, everything seemed full, whereas in past years it took an hour or so for everyone to show up.” Wiltse said the event would not have been possible without the support shown by the community. “I just thank the volunteers and the community support,” Wiltse said. “We had a huge help from our volunteers.”
