Arenac County Transit to offer grocery and prescription pickup service

Posted

ARENAC COUNTY— In order to assist with social distancing and to flatten the COVID-19 curve, the Arenac County Transit is offering a grocery and prescription pickup service Wednesdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Grocery stores participating in this service are Jay’s Fruit Market in Standish, Twining Food Market and Sunrise Food Market in Au Gres.

Those wanting to take advantage of this service may call the store to place their order and will be asked to pay with a credit or debit card over the phone. The store will call the transit when the order is gathered and the transit will deliver the groceries to your front porch.

This service costs $1.50 for those in town and $4.00 for those out of town.

There will also be a pickup service for prescriptions. Pharmacies participating are Standish Pharmacy, Au Gres Pharmacy in Sunrise Market and Rite-Aid in Standish.

Customers can call in their prescriptions and pay over the phone with a credit or debit card, then call the transit at 989-846-7500 to schedule a ride to go pick it up. The pharmacy staff will bring the prescriptions to the bus eliminating the need to enter the store.

The cost for this service varies depending on which zone you live in.
