Posted

ARENAC COUNTY— The Arenac Community Funds will be holding its 10th annual trivia night Feb. 15 at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Au Gres. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and trivia begins at 6:30 p.m.

The cost to participate is $200 per team and each team can hold up to eight people. There will be 20 rounds of trivia with five multiple choice questions per round. The general trivia has no specific theme and covers various categories. Pete DeShone will be emceeing the night and there will also be prizes and complimentary snacks.

The event is B.Y.O.B so participants are welcome to bring their own beverages.

According to event coordinator Ronda Switek, there will also be a silent auction. Proceeds from the night will support the scholarship fund for Arenac County.

“Since it was established in 2008, the Arenac County scholarship fund has given out over $96,000 to local high school students,” said Switek.

This is the 10th year the Arenac Community Funds committee, an affiliate of Bay Area Community Foundation, has put on this event. “We made over $9,000 last year at this event so we hope we can match that this year,” said Switek.

According to Switek, the scholarship fund is currently a little over $183,000. “In 2019 alone, we gave out about $13,500 in scholarships to Arenac County high school students,” said Switek. “The event is for a good cause and it always makes you feel good to give back to the community you live in.”

There is limited space for teams so it is first come first serve! Switek said groups ask when they can sign up for trivia night as early as December.

“It is a lot of fun and we enjoy putting it on,” said Switek. “We always get a good response from the community.”
