Area business raided by FBI, MDOT

STANDISH — The Federal Bureau of Investigations, along with the Department of Transportation’s Office of Inspector General and the Michigan Department of Transportation executed search warrants across the state, including a local business July 25.

According to FBI Detroit Division Special Agent in Charge Timothy R. Slater, the raids were part of an ongoing fraud investigation that involved the local business.

“While I recognize the public may have questions about the nature of the allegations against (the business), in order to protect the integrity of the investigation and the rights of an entity and individuals that have not been charged with any crime, I am unable to provide additional details,” Slater said.

According to Slater, after the evidence collected is reviewed by agents and FBI staff, the case will be presented to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, which is ultimately responsible for decided whether charges will be pursued. If there are any charges as a result, the substance of the investigation will be a matter of public record.
