ARENAC COUNTY— Standish native, Rick Fiddler donated 50 acres of land to join Youngman Park in Arenac County Dec. 30. The land is located behind the existing park on State Rd. in Standish. The Quit Claim Deed lists the grantors as Rick Fiddler, survivor of himself and Dorothy L. Fiddler and Judy Ann Orr.

The deed states that the county will “expand the existing park system into the donated parcels which would allow for further outdoor recreational activities for the general public including recreational purposes.”

Born and raised in Standish, Fiddler inherited the land from his late father, Raymond Fiddler. Now as a retired helicopter pilot for Amway, he resides in Grand Rapids and has requested the land be used to join the Youngman park so that someday his grandkids could come and enjoy the area like he did when he was younger.

Attorney Duane Hadley donated his legal services to the commissioners to put together the deed. The Fiddler name will be added to the title of the park along with the Youngman name.

“On behalf of the parks board, we are very appreciative of the donation,” said Jeff Trombley, chairman of the Arenac County Parks board.
