ARENAC COUNTY — A new law is allowing more military veterans to receive the medical care they need to treat ailments caused by exposure to toxic chemicals while serving and protecting overseas. The new act could help nearly one-third of all veterans and their families in the U.S., including the 1,187 reported veterans in Arenac County.

Veterans’ committee to be formed in Arenac County

Applications accepted until Feb. 21 ARENAC COUNTY – A group of local veterans met with Arenac County Commissioners recently to discuss the formation of a committee in support of Act 192 of 1953, the County Department of Veterans’ Affairs.

Sunday concert performance set in Standish

STANDISH – Laurie and the Lefties will perform as part of the Northeast Art Center’s Second Sunday Concert series on Sunday, Feb. 12 at 2 p.m. The county- western musicians, formerly known as the Laurie Middlebrook Band, has been performing throughout Michigan for nearly 30 years, the art center said.
