Lake St. Clair: Water clarity on the lake has been improving each day. The stained water was warming up quickly and fishing for multiple species has been improving. Largemouth and smallmouth bass were caught by anglers fishing by boat and shore. The warmer backwaters and areas where creeks and rivers enter the lake have been better. Walleye anglers were doing well in the main lake and southern end near the Detroit River while trolling. With the cool water, anglers had a few bonus catches of coho and steelhead.

The Lady Wolverines opened their season on the road at Owendale Gagetown Friday, April 14. Returning seniors to the line up Emily Freehling, Shea Menard, and Allyson Stange are out to bring victory to their softball team like they did for their basketball team that ended with a district win.

The Standish-Sterling Panthers girls soccer team open our season April 12 with a 3-1 victory over the Oscoda Owls. We had a slow start to the game.

Fishing Tip: Avid anglers are constantly looking for tips and tricks to have more successful fishing trips. Many turn to sonar technology to achieve this goal.

Northeast Lower Peninsula Thunder Bay River: Anglers targeting steelhead in the open parts of the river did well using spinners and spawn bags. Anglers targeting steelhead near the 9th Street Dam did the best. Floating spawn bags, nymphs, and other drifting baits seemed to be better than casting spoons/spinners etc. Those using drift baits, were successful drifting in the deep pool directly under the dam.
