The following Alpena Community College students have been named to the 2023 Spring Semester Dean’s List. Dylan Badour, of Au Gres Cole Truhett, of Au Gres To be eligible for the Dean’s List, students must have full-time course loads of 12 or more credits.

Lake Erie: Anglers were catching limits of walleye just out from the Bartnik Boat Launch on gold crawler harnesses in 17 to 22 feet of water. Catfish were plentiful from the hot hole just offshore from the coal power plant on worm rigs. Largemouth and smallmouth bass were caught closer to shore on artificial jigs.

AU GRES — The City of Au Gres has scheduled two public hearings Tuesday, June 6 to discuss matters concerning the city’s finances. Residents and concerned citizens may attend and participate in these hearings to voice their opinions and provide input.

AU GRES — The Au Gres-Sims School District received grants totaling $73,146.26 from the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe, during the Spring 2 percent distribution ceremony on Monday, May 22 at the Saganing Eagle’s Landing Outreach Center in Standish.

Events slated at Depot and Welcome Center 989-387-9295 STANDISH — The Standish Historical Depot and Welcome Center in Standish is set to host a multitude of events this summer, from community garage sales and farmers markets to summer concerts and a vintage car show. The 6th Annual Arenac County Community Garage Sale will take place June 2 - 3 from 9 a.m.

The Arenac County Fairgrounds, 2392 Airpark Drive, Standish, will be alive with the sounds of classic car engines and oldies music, during the Pops in the Past Car Show Saturday, June 17. The annual car shows began in 2016; each year a nonprofit organization is the recipient of proceeds from the show.
