Tools and techniques to lower risk Heart disease is the leading cause of death of women in the United States and in Michigan, causing about one in five deaths in 2020. In recognition of American Heart Month and the American Heart Association’s Go Red™ for Women campaign, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) WISEWOMAN program and Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention Unit are working together to raise awareness of heart health.

Ice fishing will soon be over, and anglers who want to get out on the water in the spring will need to obtain a fishing license. According to the Michigan DNR, the 2023 fishing guide will be available this year on March 1, ahead of the annual fishing license renewal period, which begins on April 1.
