STANDISH TOWNSHIP – A domestic dispute in Whites Beach Thursday, July 15 has resulted in two fatalities.

Early-morning July 15, local authorities were called to Whites Beach for a domestic incident.

A 29-year-old female and resident of the home, located on Whites Beach Road, was able to escape as police arrived.

The male victim, Allan Kiczowski, of Pinconning, who was the former boyfriend of the female, had been stabbed with a knife and then shot, and the male suspect, Josh Smith, of Pinconning, another former boyfriend to the female, was inside the house, armed with the gun.

After a 12-hour confrontation with authorities, a self-inflicted gunshot wound killed Smith.

Smith, who had a domestic violence warrant, was involved in a high-speed chase with the Arenac County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday, July 13, the sheriff’s office said.

He escaped the car chase after the sheriff’s office vehicle was damaged, Arenac County Undersheriff Don McIntyre said.

The Arenac County Sheriff’s Office, Michigan State Police, Michigan State Police Crime Lab Northern Michigan Mutual Aid Task Force SWAT Team, and the Saginaw-Chippewa Tribal Police Department were among the law enforcement agencies present.

McIntyre gave his thanks to the community in the days following the incident.

“I’d like to thank the community for their overwhelming show of support toward their police the next day,” he said.

The event is still being investigated, the sheriff’s department said.
