Thomas B. Ennes, 75, a lifelong resident of Au Gres, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2019, at Lakeview Manor Nursing Home in Tawas City.

Tom was born July 6, 1943, in Omer to the late Lincoln and Elsie (nee Bilacic) Ennes. He graduated from Au Gres-Sims Schools in 1961 and began his longtime career at Ennes Home Supply in Au Gres. On Oct. 18, 1962, Tom married the former Judith Marie Pomerville in Bridgeport, and together they raised two daughters, Pamela and Susan. Tom could be found in Ennes Supply handling a multitude of tasks from repairing televisions in early years to appliances. He was known to be able to fix or build just about anything from ultralights and a gyrocopter, to a hovercraft and sailboats. Tom loved an interesting project, adventures and a good story. Tom served many capacities in the Au Gres area over the years including city council member, city mayor, Au Gres-Sims school board member, and member of the Au Gres Fire Department, where he also served as fire chief. He enjoyed sailing, scuba diving, traveling, camping and tinkering.

Tom is survived by his wife, Judith; daughters, Pamela Gale of Au Gres, Susan (Bob Lutz) Ennes of Tulsa, Okla.; sister, Jan (Dale) Hardy; brother, Robert Ennes; brother, John (Judi) Ennes; and numerous nieces and nephews and friends.

In addition to his parents, Lincoln and Elsie, Tom was preceded in death by his brother, John Ennes.

A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 18, 2019, at Buresh Funeral Home, 101 E. Michigan Ave., Au Gres. Pastor Lyle Swartz will officiate. Tom’s family will welcome friends and neighbors at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
