STANDISH — Mark Kowalczyk was charged with illegal entry, resisting and obstructing arrest Wednesday, June 12, after he allegedly broke into and entered a residence on the 3200 block of Grove Road Tuesday, June 11.

Arenac County Sheriff's deputies responded to a call at approximately 9:38 a.m. and upon arrival, were told a subject had entered the premises and had taken a wallet, keys to a vehicle and a pack of cigarettes, according to Sheriff Jim Mosciski.

Kowalczyk reportedly then fled into a wooded area surrounding the residence, he said.

“Jagger was called, our K-9 unit, and tracked him and an arrest was made of the subject and suspect,” Mosciski said. “He is being held now in the Arenac County Jail on other warrants we have for him.”

The individual had warrants out for domestic violence, Mosciski said.

He said officers from the Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Police and the Au Gres-Sims Police Department were called in to assist in the arrest.
