John A. Restainer Jr., 74, of Bryan, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, June 5, 2018, as a result of injuries he received in a car accident.

He worked as a millwright welder at General Motors in Saginaw and Defiance, Ohio, for 21 years. John was a member of First Baptist Church in Bryan. He enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing, woodworking and playing water volleyball at the YMCA. He was there for anyone in need.

John A. Restainer Jr. was born Sept. 27, 1943, in Standish, the son of John A. and Irene R. (Ross) Restainer Sr. He married Joyce L. Hilliker on Aug. 10, 1968, in Standish, and she survives.

John is also survived by his daughter, Julie Restainer of Bryan; sons, Patrick (Jenny) Ecker of Omer and Steve (Cheryl “Peanut”) Ecker of Standish; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Joyce (Bill) Robinson of Twining.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Jim and Tony Ecker; daughter, Cindy Dohm; and two brothers.

Services for John A. Restainer Jr. will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, June 11, 2018, at Krill Funeral Home, 860 W. Mulberry St., Bryan, with Pastor John MacFarlane officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m., prior to the service.

Memorials in the name of John A. Restainer Jr. are requested to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
