Irwin C. Barber, 72, of Lansing passed away March 9, 2017.

He was born July 14, 1944, in Sterling. Irwin was the son of the late Harrison and Helen (Argensinger) Barber. He graduated from Arenac Eastern High School in Twining. He worked for General Motors most of his adult life until retirement in 1999. Irwin enjoyed hunting, fishing and working in his garden. Irwin married Janice Sebring March 7, 1964. Together, they raised three children, Steven, Tony and Loraine.

Irwin is survived by his loving wife, Janice; his two sons, Steven and Tony (Lori) Barber; his daughter, Loraine (Kevin) Patterson; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Irwin is also survived by three brothers, Dale (Pauline) Barber, Carl (Carol) Barber and Chester (Rose) Barber; four sisters, Marjory Haas, June Pataky, Cathy Keesaer and Donna (Dave) Robinson; sister-in-law, Debra Barber; brothers-in-law, Thomas (Nancy) Sebring and Al Sebring; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Irwin was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law, Blanche, and father-in-law, Allen Sebring; brothers, Sam, Harrison Jr., Robert and Larry Barber; and his sister, Betty Sweeney.

Funeral arrangements were by Estes-Leadley in Holt. Services were held March 13, 2017, at 1 p.m. Dr. Bob Nappier and Pastor Christopher Draney officiated. Interment was in East Lawn Memory Gardens in Okemos.
