Irma J. King

Died March 4, 2017


Irma J. King, 96, formerly of Flint, passed away peacefully March 4, 2017, at Iosco County Medical Care Facility.

Irma was born Sept. 11, 1920, in Rhodes to the late Albin and Mina (Rogers) Carlson. She was a graduate of Pinconning High School. Irma was a library clerk for the Flint Public Library. She enjoyed being with her loving family, playing cards, cooking, gardening, bowling, square dancing and wintering in Florida for 35 years with her husband, Mose. Irma and Mose were married Aug. 5, 1939, in Pinconning and enjoyed 71 years together in Flint.

She is survived by her three children, Myrna Roofe (Ken) McConoughey of Bradenton, Fla., Janice (Michael) Snyder of Au Gres and Sheila (John) Landis of Canadian Lakes; grandchildren, Lisa (Steve) O’Connell, Gina (Jim) Wells, Karen (David) Hilt, Melissa (Richard) Susan, Jeffrey (Suzzanne) Snyder, Eric Landis and Kristin (Todd) Piwowar; step-great-grandchildren, Kelly (Amar) Mehta, Lindsey (Brian) Bewley, Sarah and Kaitlin Susan; great-great-grandchildren, David III and Juliana Dunning, Veda and Nora Mehta, Brooke, Madison and Harper Bewley.

In addition to her parents, Irma was preceded in death by her loving husband, Mose; brother, Clarence (Caroline) Carlson; sister, Pauline (Martin) Meddaugh; sister, Elizabeth (Deome) Meddaugh; and son-in-law, Willard Roofe.

According to Irma’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service was held at Brown Funeral Home in Grand Blanc. Interment will be in the Garfield Township Cemetery in Bay County. The family is very thankful for the wonderful care at Iosco County Medical Care Facility and by Hospice Compassus.
