On the evening of Thursday, June 26, 2014, Winnifred Nellie (nee Dittenbir) Dewald (also fondly known as Winnie, Winnie-the-Pooh, Winnie Bear, Boss Lady, and Snicklefritz) began her sentimental journey home to meet her Lord, following a courageous and graceful battle with cancer. She was surrounded by several members of her loving family.

Winnifred was born in Au Gres, and later married John A. Dewald on Sept. 2, 1950. Winnie enjoyed a successful career as daughter, wife, mother, sister, den mother, retail store manager, and numerous other roles throughout the years. She loved shopping, yard sales, gardening and gardens, bird watching, painting, good food, and creating special memories with family.

Blessed with a large and loving family, Winnie is survived by her children, Gregory Dewald, David Dewald, Marcia Twarog, Bradley (Heidi) Dewald, Dean Dewald, Julie (Dan) Meeker, Rebecca Dewald-Twarog, and Lisa (Bob) Marsh; siblings, Marion Dittenbir, Jeanette (Ted) Kramer, Kathaleen (Lewis) Gilstrap, Laurene (William) Powell; sisters-in-law, Veretta Cheal and Myrna Dewald; brother-in-law, Wallace (Rose) Dewald. Winnie also leaves behind grandchildren, Jill Cozart, Darci (Kacee) Flowers, Darlene (Doug) Christensen, Tara Twarog, Brandon Twarog, Jeremy (Kelly) Dewald, Jacqueline (Antoine) Dewald-Fair, Bradley Meeker, Katarina Meeker, Johnny Meeker, Kayla (Eric) Southworth, Nicole (Lance) Herman, Kristi (Vince) Marsh, and an extensive list of beautiful great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and addition loved ones. Winnie is predeceased by husband, John A. Dewald; parents, John and Nellie Dittenbir; parents-in-law, John and Elizabeth Dewald; brother, William Dittenbir; brothers-and-sisters-in-law, Carol Dittenbir, Herb Dewald, Arlene (Gordan) Brown, Alice (Louis) Rutkowski, Arnold Dewald, James Cheal, Delbert Dewald, Gerald (Carol) Dewald; sons-in-law, James Twarog and William Twarog.

Special thanks go out to the many wonderful and talented medical staff members of the Au Gres St. Joseph Family Clinic, Seton Cancer Institute in Tawas, Reverence Home Health, Saginaw MMR, and Covenant-Cooper emergency room. The family will receive friends on Monday, June 30, 2014, from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 206 North Court Street in Au Gres, Michigan 48703. Rev.
