TURNER TWP. — A single-vehicle crash in Turner Township has claimed the life of a Whittemore man.
Richard Voss Jr., 33, was transported to St. Mary’s of Michigan Standish Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, after a Ford Super Duty pickup in which he was a passenger overturned.
According to Undersheriff Donald McIntyre of the Arenac County Shreiff’s Department, the crash occurred on East Twining Road at 5:56 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4, when the eastbound pickup overturned with two subjects inside and became submerged in a deep ditch.
McIntyre said it is unknown if Voss was driving the truck when the accident occurred.
“We are still investigating further what exactly happened,” he said.
According to McIntyre, the other subject who was in the vehicle has not been arraigned and their name will not be released until an investigation is completed.
He added that the department is looking to question a witness.
“We have one key witness who we are looking to talk to obtain more information,” he said.
McIntyre said alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the crash.
