Here is some of what we're reading today:

— Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was hopsitalized with a blood clot that stems from a concussion she suffered earlier this month.

— Seven NFL teams announced Dec. 31 that they were firing their coaches. The Eagles' Andy Reid and the Bears' Lovie Smith are among those who were fired.

— Preisdent Obama said Congressional Democrats and Republicans are getting close to a deal to avert the fiscal cliff, which would trigger several cuts and tax increases.
